Josephine Baker

One of the most obvious things to me in Paris is how beautiful the people are.  It’s insane.  It’s been said before, and I’ll say it again, how they eat so much cheese and bread (and macaroons and nutella and wine) and stay teeny is BEYOND me.  However, what I think is more beautiful about the Frenchies is the way that they carry themselves.  That “je ne sais quoi” ( juh nuh say qwah 😉 ) people speak about all the time?  Shit’s legit.

Josephine BakerSee this grandma? Does your grandma look like this? They are SO fabulous, it’s outstanding.

Anyhoo, the point is, I have a certain appreciation for people who work it because they know they got it. Hay girl.  So, for the next couple of months I am focused on figuring out what makes the Parisians so fabulously full of themselves.

For school, we are working at the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire du Judaïsmeism to re-work the entry/whole thing because it’s generally a miserable place.  SO, today we visited the Jardins du Trocadero and some exhibitions there, one of which paid tribute to the school at which I am studying, “Art Deco.”  I have never paid this time period of design much attention for some reason or another, but going through the exposition was phenom. Yes, phenom.

THE whole point of this is that at the end of the gallery Josephine Baker receives her own blip, so I did a little research on her and am fascinated by this chiquita….. (watch the video)  She came from nothing and basically took the world (Paris + NYC=world) by storm… so she is where I begin my journey of studying those who are willing to strut their stuff and show the world who’s boss.
